For the guy above me who's into punk you should definitely check out the Japanese noise/punk scene, you'll love it:

1. Gauze- Fuck Heads
http://rapidshare.com/files/30378488/Gauze_-_Fuckheads.zip.html

2. The Stalin- STOP JAP
http://punknotprofit.blogspot.com/2007/09/stalin-stop-jap.html

3. The Gerogerigegege- Tokyo Anal Dynamite
http://www.mediafire.com/?w1xokzpyg4i

4. Boredoms- Pop Tatari
http://www.mediafire.com/?djxq0jmz9yk

The first two are your more traditional hardcore bands while the last two are way more experimental in nature, but bands you should find interesting nonetheless...

I've heard its pretty good

zaesay 300 posts

yea i know i saw that and i think but im not sure that they also send you the cd when it comes out along with the digital copy but its like 20 dollas

a weekend in the city was going a different direction then silent alarm but after adapting to the new bloc party style i really liked it alot. how did you feel about a weekend in the city?

buffalowingsaredelicious 13 posts

I guess sorta like you
I was a little slow to it... I guess cuz I was used to silent alarm
But after a while I started getting into it

zaesay 300 posts

exactly and i heard some of the stuff on intimacy and it seem like their staying with the weekend in the city style but hopefully their have a couple silent alarm style jams

intimacy= kinda a let down

i liked the song halo tho. it reminds me of their silent alarm stuff but thats it. then again i heard it once in kellas car and it was the pre release digital cd so im hoping maybe the real cd is different and the pre release cd is something like their Another Weekend in the City album.

One can only hope

Ok, everyone here seriously needs a lesson on screamo music

Not screamo, like Underoath. Fuck dat shyt (No offense to anyone who likes Underoath, it's just that they are in no way screamo...)

This stuff is closer to like... post-rock-esque music with screaming. It's melodic, raw and emotional. I think someone here will appreciate at least one of these albums. Hopefully at least...

Saetia- A Retrospective
The forerunners of American screamo

pg. 99- Document #8
Produced by Kurt from Converge to my knowledge. This was much more influential on modern day screamo (you know, the shitty screamo that isn't really screamo) but this is done well. They were a 9 piece (sometimes more or less). The picture below basically sums up how good they are

Envy- All The Footprints You've Ever Left...
Japan's biggest "screamo" band. Just really good stuff. Some post-rock elemnts in there

Sora
5 songs by an up-and-coming Japanese screamo band. Reminiscent of Thursday in the vocals, but much more raw

Raein/Lhasa/Daitro - Harsh Words As The Sun. (Italy/Japan/France)
This is a split (would that be the proper term?) between three different screamo bands around the world. Lhasa I like in particular, very strange growly vocals.

Yeah. Check this shit out. I'm upping everyones indie cred like 10 points by posting this stuff.

Dude, I just started listening to Saetia, and that stuff is awesome! Its like I always knew there was something up with screamo, like there was so much potential for it to sound amazing but most bands just go through the motions of playing in their drown tuned guitars, double bass pedals, and homogenized screaming.

Thanks for getting me hooked to them.

No problem. I always like getting people into new music

If you liked that you'll probably like the rest I posted too

I hear Orchid is good too, it has some members of Saetia in it I believe?

It's Microcastle by Deerhunter

Their last album Cryptograms is great too

Microcastle is more like jangly spacey guitar pop and Cryptograms is more darker and minimalist. I kind of prefer Cryptograms over their newest one, but both are really good. Their first album Turn it Up Faggot is kind of mehhh to me. But I hear tons of people love it. It's just really aggressive post-punk kind of stuff. Deerhunter is kind of like My Bloody Valentine mixed with David Bowie mixed with Nick Cave

Agoraphobia off of Microcastle

Spring Hall Convert off of Cryptograms
